Course Description & Objectives
Objectives:
The course builds on the learnings you have made on Firm Strategy to the case of competing in global markets. As in the domestic market, strategy is important for success of firms in international markets. Yet, the complications of the strategy formulation and implementation become more challenging when competing outside the domestic borders. Accordingly, we will examine two themes of international business. The first concerns the process and challenges of internationalization of a firm. The second is about the core decisions and challenges that come from managing a firm that has internationalized.
Pedagogy
The dominant pedagogy for this course would be the case method, providing opportunities to simulate “real world” scenarios inside the classroom. Alongside the case discussions, relevant strategic management theory will be discussed. Recommended readings should complement our discussions.
