Course Description & Objectives
The objective of this course is to provide participants an opportunity to understand agri-food sector problems, policy issues, policy instruments and choices from domestic and international perspectives. In accomplishing this objective, a range of past, current and emerging agri-food policy issues and instruments, besides policy formulation process and the institutions/ organizations involved in this process, are considered. Participants should be able to critically assess role of agri-food sector in economic development and how to harness it by various policy instruments related to technology, institutions, infrastructure and incentives and emerging trade policy issues to successfully conduct business in agri-food sector. Emphasis is on developing an understanding and capabilities, which allow participants to assess consequences of agricultural and food policy alternatives on agribusiness.
